Are you looking for a fun, effective way to share the Spanish language with your child?

Wouldn’t it be great to give them a head start hearing and speaking Spanish, while their growing brains are literally “language learning machines”?

How great would it be if you could use the power of the computer and attraction of a video game to open your child’s mind to hundreds of Spanish words?

“The best learning feels more like play than work”

My name is Sandy, and I grew up outside the US. When I moved into the country, I made friends with lots of bilingual parents with small children. They often talked about how sad they were that their kids weren’t learning their native language. They couldn’t share the stories and the songs of their own youth with their children.

Some of them tried to spend time speaking Spanish with their youngsters, but didn’t always have the time, and weren’t sure how to introduce a second language. They tried some computer-based language learning programs, but soon realized that they worked great for readers, but not for kids who couldn’t yet follow written instructions.

My husband Steve is a computer programmer and Internet expert. When I asked him if he knew of any good language programs for children, he did a search and came up empty. That’s when he got this look in his eyes (if you’ve ever lived with a programmer, you know exactly what I’m talking about), and said, “Why don’t we make one ourselves?”

“The ‘Rosetta Stone’ for the Pre-Kindergarten Set”

We researched the most effective language programs in the market - Rosetta Stone, Berlitz, Pimsleur - and modeled the best features of each. From Pimsleur we took spaced repetition. From Rosetta Stone, positive feedback and engagement. From Berlitz, understanding in context.

Steve also is a big fan of video games, so he understands how to make an activity fun, engaging and challenging. Together, we started experimenting. We had the audio professionally recorded (we definitely wanted kids to learn from a native Spanish speaker), Steve found simple and cheerful pictures, and wrote a simple yet powerful program that we call “Easy Spanish For Kids.”

My friends immediately loved it, and encouraged us to make it available to Spanish-speaking parents everywhere. (OK, and non-Spanish-speaking parents who want their children to learn Spanish too.)

Here’s what’s in Easy Spanish For Kids

- Develop a basic vocabulary in Spanish with over 120 words and sentences

- Immerse your child through our use of a native Spanish speaker

- Form word relationships quickly with our eight different categories of content

- High-quality and fun illustrations help increase retention

- Build a solid foundation in “Learning Mode”, where basic vocabulary is made easy

- Industry proven “Quiz Mode”, will have your child speaking sooner than any other method

Because it’s so simple, you don’t have to worry about your child spending hours on the computer. Easy Spanish For Kids is designed to entertain and educate children in just minutes a day. It’s not a chore, and it’s not an addictive online game.

You can play along with your child, but you don’t have to. The program is so clear and intuitive, they’ll be happily learning Spanish on their own in seconds. And don’t be surprised when they start trying to teach you to say, “The giraffe has a long neck” in Spanish!

If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to introduce the beautiful and rich Spanish language and heritage to your child, we hope you’ll give our “labor of love” a try.

And please let us know what you think!

Thank You,

Sandy & Steve

Pros and cons of Spanish for Kids app for iPhone and iPad

Spanish for Kids app good for

My 5 year old absolutely loves this game. The word-learning section is good...but he really likes the quizzes. The cheering-kids sound almost always makes him smile. I definitely recommend this app.
My nephew loves this--after just 30 days, he is now able to communicate with his abuela!! God bless you!!
This app is excellent quality and well worth every penny. Speaking as a customer with a Masters in Elementary Education, I really appreciate the obvious time and effort the developers put into every detail: - pictures are charming and easy for young fingers to locate (pictures respond with audio of the word when touched) - audio is clear and well-paced - quizzes are multiple choice pictures (& incorrect answers just disappear from the screen when chosen, avoiding discouraging feedback/sounds) - sentences are fun and appropriate for young learners (as well as old!) Speaking as an adult (beginning) Spanish learner, Ive found this apps pronunciation and visuals to be very helpful (and a great companion to Rosetta Stone and the Byki Spanish app!). Way to go! Thanks!
I bought "Spanish for Kids" last week for my daughters, ages three and one. After using it several times, I can highly recommend this app to any parent, who is looking to teach Spanish to their children. The pictures are well-drawn and kid-friendly, the native speaker speaks accurately and clearly, and the interface is so easy to navigate that my three-year-old can use the app by herself. After reviewing the "Animals" section twice, my three-year-old took the quiz for that section and scored a perfect 20 out of 20. I was so impressed that I bought "French for Kids" the next day. Enough said.

Some bad moments

Only half of the app appears. Ive downloaded the app to my phone and iPad with the same result. I attempted to reach out to tech support and was directed to a page that doesnt apply. Im not sure why Houston ISD would recommend this app. Ive wasted my money.
A little boring!! Definitely not good for kids with learning disabilities!!
I downloaded redownloaded downloaded again 5x and this app still wouldnt work correctly what a joke and I tried getting my money back and couldnt what a ripoff
I was really excited about this for my 5 year old so I went ahead and bought it. IT DOESNT LOAD! Only half of the app appears on the screen and so half of the images and words are cut off. Plus I cant find out how to contact the company for a refund. The "web support" redirects me to a search essentially. Dont waste your money!!!
